Guidelines for abstract/manuscript submission
The Volumina Jurassica is a geological journal of the Institute of Geology, University of Warsaw. It publishes original contributions on all aspects of the Jurassic System, so far unpublished and not submitted for publication elsewhere.
The Abstract Volume will be published as special issue of Volumina Jurassica and distributed during the Congress. It will present abstracts of talks and posters presented during 7th International Congress on Jurassic System. The abstract must be written in English, and its length must not exceed one page (3500 characters the spaces included), plus an extra-page if figure is included. A paper copy of both text and figure of abstract, as well as the electronic version (CD) have to be submitted by March 31 st 2006. They have to be sent to Secretary of the Congress, Institute of Geology, University of Warsaw, 02-089 Warszawa, ul. Żwirki i Wigury 93, Poland. Only accepted abstracts by the Scientific Committee will be published.
Each abstract should be organized as follows: (1) title (in normal, not block letters), (2) full names of the author(s) and affiliation(s) – full name, address(es) including e-mail, (3) key-words (not more than 10), (4) text and figure (if necessary, with its description at the end): the final size of figure cannot exceed 23x17 cm, (5) references (if necessary; they should be written according to rules as for contributions (see below).
The Proceedings Volume of the Jurassic Congress will be published as regular edition of the Volumina Jurassica in 2007. A contribution must be in English, and its length should not exceed 10 pages (a page is about 3500 characters spaces included) comprehensive of title, abstracts, text, references and figures. The manuscripts for the proceedings volume should be submitted during the Congress in Kraków, September, 2006. Please provide electronic version (CD), and three paper copies of manuscript and all illustrations for the reviewers. Two reviewers will be asked to evaluate the papers: then accepted papers will be returned to authors for revision. The final version sent to Editorial Office must be in electronic version (see below).
Each manuscript must be organized as follows:
(1) title, name(s) of the author(s) with first name not abbreviated, affiliation including full address(es) and e-mail(s);
(2) abstract which does not exceed 300 words, and does not contain any citations: the abstract must be in English and in Polish (for non-Polish authors, the English abstract may be translated by the Editorial Office);
(3) key-words should not exceed 10 words;
(4) body-text with introduction, main chapters and summary: pages must be numbered; all abbreviations must be explained when used for the first time; do not italicize words other than generic and species names; three categories of headings are accepted: first order headings (bold letters), second order headings (normal, underlined), third order (normal = "plain"); citations in the text must be as follows: (Matyja 2001), (Matyja 2001, 2003), (Barski, Matyja 2001), (Matyja et al. 1992)
(5) figures (drawings, tables and photographs) as well as plates must be successively numbered and quoted as Fig. /Figs and Pl./Pls (figures in plates quoted as Pl. 1: 7) when belonging to this paper; when quotations refer to the figures/plates/tables of other paper they should be indicated as fig. /pl. /tab., respectively; if necessary the linear scale in the figures should be given; the maximum final size of the figures is 23x17 cm.;
(6) explanation to figures and plates (at the end);
(7) references including all literature cited in the text and figures, reported in alphabetical order according to following examples: Papers from journals (please, give full names of the journals, and numbers of pages):

Reprints of the papers published in the Proceedings Volume have to be ordered and paid directly to the editor.
Proofs: the author (the corresponding author in the case of joint authored paper) will receive page proofs that should be checked and sent back to the Editorial Office. Author’s correction in the text proof, not related to printer errors, must be minimal; in case of heavy changes the author(s) will be charged for additional costs.
Both abstracts and manuscripts should be submitted to print in electronic version (CD).
Electronic version of the text is accepted only in .doc or .rtf formats. Separate photographs should be sent as .tif files in scale 2:1 (in relation to proposed final size in the paper) with the highest possible resolution (not less than 300 dpi); please do not sent .jpg files. Black and white photographs should be saved as greyscale colour format. The colour photos and figures should be avoided, unless absolutely necessary; their costs will be charged to the author(s). The other text figures should be sent as .ai or .eps format (with test converted to the curves). Please do not send .cdr files.
The pattern of plates should be sent with description of particular photos, and independently all the photographs of the plate as single pictures of .tif files.
